Last summer, I first heard from residents regarding a loud 'banging noise' in the community. After some investigation, it was determined it was bird cannon being used in an industrial area on Judson St. Bird cannons use a loud sound to frighten birds to prevent them from nesting on property. After learning this, I immediately asked by-law to attend, and the property owner agreed to cease use of the cannon.
Over the past few weeks, I have once again heard from residents stating that the bird cannon has come back into use. While it is difficult to determine if it is from the same property, I once again asked by-law to attend and was informed that there is no ban prohibiting there use in the City of Toronto.
As a result, I moved a motion regarding this in Etobicoke York Community Council yesterday, which you can read here.
