On Monday June 26th The City of Toronto and the Toronto Transit Commission will replacing nearly 4 km of streetcar track on Lake Shore Boulevard West
starting at Dwight Avenue proceeding east to the TTC's Humber Loop. Work on Lake Shore will be staged in sections of about 400m to help minimize the impact
on traffic in the area.
This project will also involve:
· Reconstructing the eastbound and westbound streetcar platforms located east of Brooker's Lane.
· Road resurfacing and sidewalk improvements.
· Curb modifications for the TTC’s new low floor streetcars to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) guidelines.
In addition, The City will construct a 1.4km bi-directional cycle track along Lake Shore Boulevard West from Norris Crescent to First Street during this project.
The new cycle track will be built on the south side of Lake Shore Boulevard West and be physically separated from the vehicle lane by a variety of different separation
techniques (curbs, bollards, planters and a low concrete wall). No lanes of traffic will be removed to accommodate the cycle track.
More information on the Cycle Track is available here.
As bike lane construction begins, work moves east and overnight intersection work takes place, updates will be distributed.
