GTAA CONFIRMS TO ME THEY ARE WORKING WITH NAV CANADA TO REDUCE IMPACTS ON OUR COMMUNITY.
The GTAA confirmed today that it received my letter, and that a formal written response will be coming shortly to address our community's concerns. If you haven't done so already, you can read my original letter to the GTAA CEO here:
GTAA representatives explained that the increased use of the North/South runways has been necessary while the others are under construction, which has caused the increased noise. I shared with them how frustrating this has been for residents.
They assured me that they are working with NAV CANADA to encourage use of the alternate east/west runways whenever possible to reduce the noise impacts on our community.
They also explained that this runway rehabilitation project is essential, as the last time the runway was repaired was more than 10 years ago. The GTAA aims to complete this phase of the work by mid-May.
The GTAA also said that it will begin communicating directly with residents about the construction project to keep residents informed over the next several weeks through newspapers, social media etc.
The GTAA's is hosting a Community Environment & Noise Advisory Committee (CENAC) meeting on April 19. This meeting will focus on this six-week construction project and the public is welcome to attend !!

I will share the formal letter once it is received, and I look forward to further working with the GTAA to address this issue and its impacts on Etobicoke-Lakeshore.
