NOTICE OF MOTION

Narrowing of Seventh Street at Lake Shore Boulevard West, Ward 6

SUMMARY:

 The Lakeshore Villages Business Improvement Association is undertaking a project to improve the streetscape along Lake Shore Boulevard West from First Street to Kipling Avenue.

The BIA has designed a village square, which will include a fountain, benches, flower beds and other landscaping to be installed at the corner of Seventh Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West.

To accommodate this project, Seventh Street, which is a two lane, one Way Street with traffic moving north, will require narrowing at the south east corner o f Seventh Street and Lake Shore Boulevard West. There would be an elimination of two parallel parking spaces and narrowing of one lane from the corner to the end of the lot at 2931 Lake Shore Boulevard West.

The BIA has held discussions with businesses adjacent to the site, as well as local community members and has met with staff from transportation to discuss the planned square

RECOMMENDATIONS

 1. That Etobicoke York Community Council grant permission for the narrowing of Seventh Street at the north end to a minimum to accommodate a safe passage of vehicular traffic.
