Toronto Arts Council in partnership with Ontario Book Publishers Organization (OBPO) is providing literary artists from East York, Etobicoke, North York and Scarborough with professional development events through our latest initiative, What’s Your Story? TAC is committed to bring the power of the arts to all corners of the city, and What’s Your Story? is just one of the ways we’re realizing our vision of Creative City: Block by Block.
What’s Your Story? Etobicoke is taking place on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 6:00pm at The Assembly Hall, 1 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Drive. The event, hosted by Arts Etobicoke, provides a great opportunity for residents to access Toronto’s dynamic literary scene. Emerging and established writers will have the opportunity to learn how to make their prose appeal to editors in a workshop led by Antanas Sileika. Another workshop led by Bardia Sinaee teaches participants how to read a poem.
Four authors will end the event by reading OBPO commissioned poems and short stories inspired by their neighbourhoods. A component of the What’s Your Story? partnership, these commissions further celebrate the literary community of Etobicoke. The writings are published on Open Book Toronto’s website and will soon be published in a special promotional edition of Open Book Toronto.
